Why Track Your Practice?

Research in music education consistently shows that tracking practice time is one of the most effective ways to improve. When you log your sessions, you gain visibility into your habits, identify gaps in your routine, and build momentum through streaks.

The Practice Ledger is designed to be unobtrusive — log sessions with a single click from any tool, and watch your dashboard grow. All data stays on your device.

Practice Dashboard — Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our virtual instruments, practice tools, and music theory workspace.

What data does the practice ledger track?

The practice ledger records each practice session: which tool you used, how long you practiced, your score (for ear training tools), and your configuration (BPM, key, etc.

). All data is stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB — nothing is sent to any server.

Where is my practice data stored?

All practice data is stored entirely in your browser's IndexedDB database.

It never leaves your device. If you clear your browser data, your practice history will be lost. Use the Export button to download a backup.

How is the streak calculated?

Your streak counts consecutive calendar days with at least one logged practice session.

If you practice today and yesterday, your streak is 2. Missing a day resets the streak to 0.

Can I export my practice data?

Yes.

Click the 'Export All Data' button to download your complete practice history as a JSON file. You can import this into spreadsheet software or keep it as a backup.

How do I log practice from a tool?

Each interactive tool (metronome, tuner, interval trainer, etc.

) has a 'Log Practice Session' button or auto-logs after completing a set of exercises.
